Diane Patterson Onuntuei, known as The Teaching Poet, is a Christian inspirational poet, author, speaker, and encourager whose writing ministry is rooted in a desire to touch hearts and transform lives through the power of words and faith.
Over the years, Diane has written more than 270 inspirational poems, each reflecting a heartfelt purpose. She writes to encourage the discouraged, strengthen the weary, bring hope to those facing difficult seasons, and help people see life through the lens of faith.
At the heart of her poetry is an even deeper desire: that people would come to know Jesus Christ, experience His love, receive emotional and spiritual healing, rediscover their purpose, and find the courage to move forward.
Her poems explore many of life’s most meaningful experiences, including love, forgiveness, marriage, family, parenting, grief, loneliness, aging, integrity, choices, consequences, courage, character, faith, hope, purpose, healing, and the everyday challenges that shape who we become.
For Diane, poetry is more than beautiful words on a page. It is a ministry. It is a way of teaching truth, encouraging reflection, and reaching people who may need just the right words at just the right moment.
This passion led to the name The Teaching Poet—a reflection of her belief that poetry can do more than entertain. Poetry can teach. Poetry can be comforting. Poetry can be challenging. Poetry can inspire change.
Diane is the author of Inner Visions and the Christian poetry collections God’s Poetic Touch: A Book of Poems, Prayers and Meditations and God’s Poetic Touch: A Book of Inspirational Poetry, Volume 2. Through her books, poetry readings, videos, inspirational messages, and The Teaching Poet television program, she continues to share messages designed to reach both the heart and the spirit.
Her prayer is that every poem serves a purpose—that somewhere, someone will read or hear a message and discover encouragement, healing, direction, renewed faith, or a closer relationship with God.
The Teaching Poet is poetry with a purpose—words that teach, inspire, encourage, and point hearts toward Jesus.
